Marina wins award last day of school
Exhilerated Reader Party, last full day of school: 80% or more winners
The lady harassing us with anonymous calls to child welfare thinks Marina must have failed third grade because I home-schooled her through 2nd grade. She was very worried about her passing, even though I assured her she was a high honor roll student all year. She just couldn't believe any good comes from me. After the FCATS she told 3 people, "I know Marina didn't pass". Pass? Look at the 3rd grade girl--6th grade reading level! 5th grade math level! Reminds me of C.S. Lewis' Narnian dwarfs seeing nothing but ugliness even in great splendor.
As you can see, only 6% of third graders in the state are as smart as or smarter than Marina!
Marina is comforted by an older sister and a mother to look up to

Marina and Mary have a folksy home but they are giving that up for school clothes , haircuts, electricity and running water this summer. It will be sad but there is no choice. Their poverty even with no rent or mortgage was crushingly painful in 2002-2003.
But lets let the mother die because she doesn't consume !
